Academic Tutoring

Thank you for your interest in the DSL Academic Tutor program!

In our DSL Academic Tutoring Program, a member aged 18 or older will be matched with an Academic Tutor to receive support with the learning and progressing of skills such as independent living, social, academic, employment, and much more. We ask that tutors and members devote an hour a week to the program and try to maintain a 6-month commitment but of course, life gets busy, so in the event you can no longer uphold the weekly hour commitment, please communicate that so we can transition the member to a new tutor if one is available.

Once a potential match is identified the member, their family, the potential tutor, and the Transitions Manager will meet virtually for an interview to discuss the goals the member has and determine if the match will be a good fit. If so, we will complete the New Goals sheet to identify a plan for the pair to begin working on. After this, the pair will decide the date, time, and location for their weekly meetings and communicate this to the Transitions Manager.

Questions? Email Ashley Corley

Once a match is identified, you will receive an email notification with information about scheduling the interview.
