Hello everyone! My name is Shelby Young. I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky along with my two sisters Lauren and Bailee who both happen to have Down Syndrome. I am the middle child, so I had a unique experience growing up and had the opportunity to see how services and supportive opportunities for those with disabilities have changed between the time Lauren and Bailee were born.
I graduated with my Doctorate in physical therapy from Bellarmine University in 2017. Since then, I have been working at Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies. In 2019, I got married and had a fairytale-themed wedding.
In 2020 we got our first puppy together (Nala). She loves to travel with us! However, does not like to pose for pictures.
And in 2021 we found out we were expecting our first baby girl in June of 2022!
In my free time, I enjoy coaching a Special Olympics cheer/softball team (the Louisville Llamas) and I also teach dance classes at Dance by Trish 2. I love to travel and explore new places. Outside of the United States, I have been to Belize, Australia, Aruba, and Jamacia.
This is my first time serving on a board, and I am looking forward to this opportunity!
