Sacred Heart Students Craft Kindness for DSL Families
Last week, Down Syndrome of Louisville was honored to welcome two talented students from Sacred Heart Model School — Kinley Jones and Lily Page — who generously donated their time and creativity to support our youngest members.
As part of their eighth grade community project, Kinley and Lily handmade a collection of beautifully crocheted stuffed animals to include in DSL’s baby baskets and preschool classrooms. Each soft and colorful creation was paired with an uplifting story written by the girls to inspire children to believe in themselves and embrace kindness.
Kinley shared that her passion for the project came from growing up around individuals with disabilities — her mother works as a special education teacher at Ahrens, and Kinley often volunteers alongside her. That experience, she says, helped her understand how important it is to create moments of joy and inclusion for others.
The girls’ thoughtfulness and attention to detail shined through every stitch and story, and their handmade gifts will no doubt bring smiles to many little faces.
Down Syndrome of Louisville is deeply grateful to Kinley, Lily, and the Sacred Heart Model School community for their compassion and commitment to giving back. Their creativity reminds us all that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
