Pepperoni Meatballs- Virtual Cooking Class

DSL Chef level: Intermediate (Oven use)

Sensory warning! May want gloves to mix and make meatballs with our hands

Ingredients: 

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 4 oz. pepperoni chopped up into small bits
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • cooking spray or olive oil
  • pizza sauce or pasta sauce (for dipping)
  • *optional* hoagie buns and your favorite cheese to make them into sandwiches!
  • *optional* kitchen gloves if you don’t like your hands to get dirty!

Directions:

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Preheat the oven to 425
  3. Chop up the pepperonis
  4. In a bowl, place beef, pepperoni egg, bread crumbs, cheese, oregano, garlic powder, and salt
  5. Use your hands to mix everything together really well. (Use gloves if you don’t like to get your hands yucky)
  6. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or cover brush with olive oil.
  7. Grab a small lump of the mixture and roll it into a ball (about 1 inch) you can either use new gloves or dip your hands in warm water to prevent sticking.
  8. Be sure all of your meatballs are close to the same size!
  9. Place your baking sheet into the oven and bake 10- 12 minutes or until they are browned
  10. Break into one meatball to see if it is fully cooked
  11. Heat up some pizza or pasta sauce
  12. You can serve with toothpicks or make a meatball sub with some cheese, sauce and a bun.
