“She is so Strong and Brave”

“Chloe amazes us every day, she is so brave and strong. When she came home in December she was unsteady on her feet and now she is climbing things and running all over the house. She’s gone from being our timid, quiet, and unsure little girl to our curious, fearless, sassy girl who will tell you “no, no, no” one moment and then wrap her arms around you for the biggest hug the next”, says Chloe’s mom Jacey Smothers.

3-year-old Chloe is a light and joy to all you get to know her. Fearless and adventurous, Chloe wants to be just like her big brother, even jumping off the side of the boat at the lake. Chloe is so friendly and outgoing and loves to wave “Hiiiii” to everyone she meets. “She loves reading books, riding her bike, and playing in her kitchen. Her favorite thing to do is to ride in the jeep with her daddy singing to Sugarland”, says her mom.  Over quarantine, Chloe has spent much of her time at the zoo or lake, and dancing to her favorite children’s songs, Old MacDonald Had a Farm and Skidamarink!

Since adopting Chloe in December, the Smothers Family has gone “all in” for DSL. Earlier this summer Jason Smothers generously donated paint and man-hours to give our entire Louisville Lifelong Learning Center a paint facelift! The Smothers shared how much DSL has meant to them and how they wanted to give back. “DSL has provided so much support to us over the last year. Even before we brought our daughter home, DSL was there to answer our questions and provide us with support. They have sent books to our house, answered our hundreds of questions, and even let Chloe borrow some of their toys when she wasn’t ready to part with them. 😉  DSL has enabled us to connect with other families who have answered our questions and provided helpful information as well. Chloe loved the playgroups at the center and has also enjoyed the virtual circle time with Ms. Hannah and Mrs. Dawn, who we absolutely love. They have provided us with so many resources and ideas to help Chloe and us.” Thank you Jason and Jacey for being a part of the DSL Family, and for sharing your adorable Chloe with us!
