LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Down Syndrome of Louisville’s (DSL) 12th Annual Gallop Gala commenced Friday night at the Galt House Hotel with $270,822 raised to help support the world’s largest and most advanced regional Down syndrome community that serves 24 counties throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana. The funds raised will benefit DSL’s mission to support, educate and advocate for individuals with Down syndrome.
“While the evening is full of fun and celebrations, the reason behind the event isn’t lost on the community members who attended,” said Julie Torzewski, Executive Director with Down Syndrome of Louisville. “The individuals we serve depend on us for lifelong learning and support to live independent lives, and events like our Gallop Gala help us continue these efforts. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity we received from volunteers and our local community to help make this event successful once again!”
During the event, guests enjoyed music and danced alongside the incredible individuals with Down syndrome that DSL serves and bid on live and silent auctions, including a package from Churchill Downs, which includes a crawfish boil, backside tour and trifecta ticket package for eight on Millionaire’s Row; Kiawah Island vacation for six; 2023 Kentucky Oaks third floor box with food and drink for six; Volare in-home chef’s dining experience for 10; a one-year membership to all six Dormie Network properties (valued at $30,000). All funds raised will help Down Syndrome of Louisville continue to provide innovative educational, social and developmental programming to people with Down syndrome.
The annual Gallop Gala began 12 years ago and has grown into one of the nonprofit’s largest fundraisers of the year. Down Syndrome of Louisville now offers more than 50 programs, events and services to more than 1,200 families throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana. Next year, the 13th Annual Gallop Gala will be back at the Galt House Hotel on Friday, April 19.
