School- Age Support: Let’s Grow Together

School-Age Support Manager, Susan Teaford, has worked tirelessly throughout this strange year and pandemic to offer updated resources and support for our families with kiddos in elementary and middle school. As this school year is drawing to a close and new one to begin around the corner, Susan continues to search for ways to assist our school-age families. Here is a message from Susan as she seeks to support you in the new year:

I know that non-traditional instruction has been a rough experience especially if you are still not back into the classroom. The survey below will help me get to know you a little better and help us understand the instructional experiences your child has had both pre-Covid and currently.    This is the first time that DSL has had a full-time position dedicated to our school-age members! I am new in this role, but I have 20 years of teaching experience prior to coming to DSL in 2013 to work with our adults in our supported employment program and most recently as the Director of Adult Education.  These experiences at DSL have given me insight into what is to come for your kids, and the future is bright!  College, fulfilling jobs, independent living- all these opportunities are headed your way!   It is my goal to offer support to your child, your family and also to the school they attend.  Working together we can prepare these children for all the exciting milestones ahead.   Working at DSL is one of the top blessings in my life and I sincerely hope to meet each of you someday. I  would love your input on how we can best serve your family, so feel free to share suggestions in the comments, or email me directly at susant@dsoflou.org.
