Ham and Cheese Wafflewiches-Virtual Cooking Class

Ham and cheese wafflewiches with Kale Chips

DSL Chef Level: Easy (oven or air fryer and skillet or panini press/sandwich press)

Ingredients:

For the kale chips:

For the Wafflewich

 

Directions:

  1. Wash your hands!
  2. Make the kale chips: Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.
  3. Cut off the tough stems of the kale, then cut the leaves into 1 1/2-inch pieces.
  4. Toss the kale on a baking sheet with the olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt; spread in a single layer.
  5. Transfer to the oven and bake for 10 minutes
  6. Take out and flip the chips, bake for another 10 minutes
  7. Take out to cool
  8. Meanwhile, make the sandwiches: Combine the apple and honey mustard in a medium bowl.
  9. Spread evenly onto 4 frozen waffles
  10. Top with the ham and cheese.
  11. Cover with the remaining waffles to make 4 sandwiches.
  12. Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  13. Add the waffle sandwiches and cook until golden about 3 minutes per side adding the remaining 2 tablespoons butter when you flip.
  14. Remove to a cutting board and cut the sandwiches in half.
  15. Serve with the kale chips.
