Down Syndrome of Louisville Announces its 30th Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament

Nonprofit to host unFOREgettable event on June 12-13 to benefit its mission

Presented by Zoeller Pump Company

Louisville, Ky. (May 9, 2022) – Down Syndrome of Louisville (DSL) will host its 30th annual Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by Zoeller Pump Company, on June 12-13 at Audubon Country Club. All funds raised from the event will go toward DSL’s mission to support, educate and advocate for individuals with Down syndrome. This year’s event will honor Louisville’s own Will Wolford who will receive the 2022 Humanitarian Award, recognizing the former NFL star’s positive impact on the community.

Guests may join in two entertaining experiences during the weekend: the Tee Off Cocktail Party on Friday, June 12, and the Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 13. At the Tee Off Cocktail party, guests will enjoy time with DSL’s celebrities (members with Down syndrome), a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, and silent and live auctions. The event will be emceed by Kent Taylor from WAVE 3 Sports.

The following day, guests will head out to Audubon Country Club for the Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament. Before the full tournament begins, teens and adults with Down syndrome will pair with local celebrities for the Junior Golf Tournament, which is always an event favorite. Participants in the Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament will enjoy 18 holes with a local pro-celebrity player and some of DSL’s finest golfers. Additionally, Special Olympics’ champion and lifelong member of Down Syndrome of Louisville, Grant Gupton, will join the event to play each team’s last putt on the 18th hole.

“This event has such a positive impact on our members with Down syndrome,” said Tim Curtis, Development Director with Down Syndrome of Louisville. “We are so grateful to Zoeller Pump Company for providing this opportunity for individuals to experience the game of golf. The Pro-Celebrity Tournament plays a major role in supporting our yearly sustainment goal of $1.2 million. Our fundraising target for this year’s event is $185,000 to help us continue growing our programs and regional outreach. The community support for our mission is incredible and truly makes a life-changing difference.”

Additional major sponsors of this two-day event include: Advance Ready Mix, Kosair Charities, Churchill Downs, Harrod Concrete and Stone, MHS, Safeco/Liberty Mutual Insurance, SRM Concrete, and Team Construction.
