Kentucky State Medicaid Waivers

Children and adults with an intellectual disability may qualify for a 1915(c) Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Medicaid waiver. These waivers provide the support you need to live as independently as possible.

1915(c) HCBS waivers typically offer Medicaid-paid services you can not receive through Kentucky’s state Medicaid program.

  • Waiting list only at this time.
  • Currently, the waiting list is approximately 7-10 years. We are consistently advocating for this to change, however, it’s best that you apply ASAP
  • DSL encourages all members to apply. Sometimes parents do not think it is necessary until later in life, however, there are benefits you can use for your member at any age, and with the waiting list so long – it’s best to sign up NOW!

Home and Community Based Waiver Services

  • There is no waitlist at this time
  • Must meet Medical criteria (not just diagnosis of DS)

Supports for Community Living Services

  • Waiting list only at this time
  • Emergency placement process for abuse or death of caretaker(s)
  • Includes residential services
  • DSL encourages all members to apply

These waivers provide the support you need to live as independently as possible. 1915(c) HCBS waivers typically offer Medicaid-paid services you can not receive through Indiana state Medicaid programs Indiana’s Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services provides funding for services to our Indiana members.

Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver

  • Waiting list only at this time
  • Emergency placement process for homeless, abuse or death of caretaker
  • Includes residential services
  • DSL encourages all members to apply.
