DSL Visits St. X for World Down Syndrome Day

This past weekend was a whirlwind of celebrations for World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), but we had to take a moment to reflect on one of the most incredible highlights—our visit to St. Xavier High School on Friday!

St. X has truly embraced the Kindness Warrior movement, with every student in the school officially trained to spread kindness, inclusion, and advocacy. Their commitment to making a difference was on full display as so many students proudly rocked their socks in support of WDSD.

Not only is the entire school trained in DSL’s Kindness Warrior program, but as of last month, DSL member and DSL Career Solutions employee Bailee joined the St. X staff, working in their office and merchandise store. The students at St. X have been incredibly welcoming to Bailee, especially on Friday when she was joined by her twin sister Lindsey and fellow DSL member Brandon R.

A huge thank you to David and Christina for their continued dedication to making this initiative a success. Your support ensures that the next generation is learning the values of acceptance and inclusion, making our community a better place for all.

This was the excerpt from the St X Friday morning news: The Daily Bulletin/Prayer today:

Today is World Down Syndrome Day which acknowledges the gifts of people with Down Syndrome. It seeks to raise public awareness, promote inclusivity, encourage advocacy, and support the wellbeing of those living with Down Syndrome. Let us remember in our prayer today those on the Wilderness Retreat. As we continue our Lenten journey, let us pray…

Loving God, we ask that you would make your love known to our neighbors with down syndrome. We pray for fruitful and deep relationships and friendships that would help us to recognize and nurture their gifts. May we be hospitable to every person we encounter. Equip people with the knowledge and skills to properly support our neighbors in such a way that they feel truly loved and cared for. Amen.

We are so grateful for St. X’s partnership and can’t wait to continue spreading kindness together!
